Our Story

Once upon a time, in a vibrant community, two passionate high schoolers, Soohyun and Esther, came together with a shared goal: to make food and nutrition accessible to everyone, especially people with disabilities and minorities. Both were deeply interested in nutrition and had spent their free time researching and experimenting with healthy recipes. Little did they know, their hobby would soon grow into something much bigger—a movement they called Putyourfoodyon.

The Seed of Change: Volunteering Cooking Lectures

It all started during their volunteer work at a local school for students with disabilities. Soohyun and Esther noticed a common struggle: many students lacked basic cooking skills and didn’t have access to the nutritional information they needed. What struck them most was how difficult it was to find resources specifically tailored to people with disabilities.

Driven by their passion for food and the desire to help others, Soohyun and Esther decided to act. They began hosting volunteer cooking lectures on the weekends, bringing their peers together for fun and interactive sessions. Soohyun, with her love for experimenting in the kitchen, taught simple, practical recipes. Esther, focused on nutrition, ensured that the students learned not just how to cook but also how to make healthier choices.

Each recipe was thoughtfully designed to be easy for the students to follow, regardless of physical limitations. Soohyun and Esther worked tirelessly to adapt techniques, create step-by-step guides, and offer tips that made cooking enjoyable and accessible.

The Birth of “Putyourfoodyon”

As word spread about their cooking sessions, more students—both with and without disabilities—began attending. The kitchen became a place of inclusion, where people from different backgrounds came together to learn, share, and grow. Inspired by the positive response, Soohyun and Esther realized they were onto something much bigger. With the support of their friends and teachers, they decided to formalize their efforts and established Putyourfoodyon—an organization dedicated to making food and nutrition education accessible to all.

The organization’s mission was simple yet profound: to empower people through food, by providing them with the knowledge and skills they needed to cook nutritious meals regardless of their abilities or resources.

A Movement of Inclusion: Sharing Knowledge with the Community

Putyourfoodyon quickly gained momentum. Soohyun and Esther expanded their efforts beyond cooking classes, creating easy-to-understand resources on nutrition and meal planning. They developed instructional videos, step-by-step recipe guides, and tip sheets that were especially helpful for people with disabilities. From how to handle kitchen tools safely to adjusting recipes for different dietary needs, they covered it all.

They also hosted workshops at community centers and schools, inviting not only people with disabilities but also minorities who often faced economic challenges and lacked access to nutritious food. By providing this vital information, Putyourfoodyon was breaking down barriers to health and wellness, one recipe at a time.

Empowerment through Fundraising: The Bazaar Initiative

To fund their activities and keep the organization growing, Soohyun and Esther came up with a creative solution—they organized a community bazaar. They invited students and volunteers from their cooking classes to prepare meals that could be sold to the community. Every dish was made with love, representing the diversity of their participants and their shared passion for cooking.

The bazaar was a huge success, drawing crowds from all over the neighborhood. But what made it truly special was that all the money raised was donated back to the cause. The funds helped expand Putyourfoodyon’s workshops, purchase cooking tools for those in need, and create more educational materials for wider distribution.

Building a Legacy of Inclusion

As Putyourfoodyon grew, so did its impact. Soohyun and Esther’s initiative began inspiring other young people to get involved. Their school even recognized their efforts, and soon the organization was collaborating with local businesses and nutrition experts to offer more comprehensive support.

What began as two high schoolers volunteering on weekends had evolved into a full-fledged movement. Putyourfoodyon became known as a beacon of empowerment, where food and community came together to change lives. Through their efforts, Soohyun and Esther proved that anyone—no matter their age—could make a difference.

Their legacy continues to inspire, showing that small acts of kindness and dedication can grow into something extraordinary, leaving a lasting impact on the world.
